Funding of adult social care

As someone who both uses social care services and has worked in the disability field, I have a great interest in current social care issues and dilemmas, including rising costs for users of social care services.

The UK’s aging population has brought the costs of social care to the forefront of political discussion, but the debate often appears to relate only to older people, leaving the concerns of younger disabled people unrecognised and marginalised. As the demographic time bomb becomes more and more acute, the danger is that the needs of younger disabled people become increasingly marginalised as the political focus is on the cost of caring for an aging population.
